Broomball
Broomball is a sport very similar to Hockey - except it's way more recreational and a bit more hilarious.
The sports are so similar that most hockey equipment and strategies can be used in broomball.
Also like hockey, broomball is played on ice, with 5 players and a goalie trying to score against the opposing team.
The first major difference between broomball and hockey is that instead of skates, broomball players are on their shoes, slipping and sliding all over the place. And instead of a stick and a puck, broomball players use a "broom" and a ball. The ball is about the size of a mini soccerball/mini basketball. And the sticks resemble a tiny broom, with a rubber triangle mounted to a stick.
Des Moines Broomball
Des Moines Broomball is a very recreational league based in Des Moines, IA. We have full-ice, half-ice, and outdoor leagues. Indoor games take place at the Metro Ice Arena in Urbandale, IA, while outdoor games take place at Brenton Plaza downtown Des Moines.
